Tim Kirk is a lifelong artist with a Master’s Degree from the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore, MD. He spent much of his career managing the Freer Gallery of Art’s Collection at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Asian Art before transitioning to painting full-time.
Kirk applies acrylic paint expressively and boldly, creating compositions that explore endurance and survival. His work often depicts weathered ancient structures, resilient plant life, and animals in rugged, unforgiving environments. These elements converge in tight, immediate compositions that evoke history, nature, and perseverance.
His influences span adventure films, comic books, and epic poetry, as well as travels to Europe, years immersed in Asian art, and a lifelong fascination with the untamed beauty of nature.
